This extraordinary 2 oz pure silver coin reimagines the iconic macuahuitl as a numismatic tribute to Huitzilopochtli, the formidable Aztec god of sun and war. The reverse side brings Huitzilopochtli to life in dramatic ultra high relief. Depicted mid-stride, adorned in full warrior regalia, the god clutches a Chimalli shield and the serpentine fire weapon Xiuhcoatl. Hummingbirds (huitzilin), sacred to Huitzilopochtli, soar around him—messengers and manifestations of his divine will. The entire design pulses with layered Aztec symbolism, including detailed motifs carved into the weapon’s length and obsidian-inspired blade segments flanking its sides. On the obverse, the design shifts to cosmic scale. Dominating the top is the sacred Aztec calendar stone, encircled by a ring of ancient glyphs. Below it, the four creator gods of Aztec mythology are rendered in stunning relief, representing the cardinal directions and elements.
